​

Shenika’s performance career reflects a commitment to artistic excellence, versatility, and meaningful connection with audiences. Her work spans opera, concert, spirituals, and Christian worship music. With engagements across the United States, Europe, Canada, and the Caribbean, she has been featured at the Sphinx Conference, Kaprálová Festival, and appeared in the ICYOLA Summer Music Concert at Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Additional performances include concerts in Lisbon, Paris, London, Toronto, and Bermuda, as well as a national tour with the American Spiritual Ensemble in celebration of its 25th Anniversary.

Operatic roles include Oberto in Handel’s Alcina, Der Sandmännchen in Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel, and Beatrice in an English adaptation of Berlioz’s Béatrice et Bénédict. Her artistry has been recognized through honors such as the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition Iowa District Encouragement Award and the Benjamin Matthews Voice Award.

 

  Currently completing doctoral studies in voice at Indiana University, she continues to bring a refined, purpose-driven presence to every performance, using her voice to inspire hope and uplift the communities she serves.

Pedagogy

​

Shenika’s approach to teaching is rooted in the belief that every voice is unique, worthy of care, and capable of growth. Her studio integrates performance training and vocology to support singers in developing healthy, expressive, and sustainable technique across styles.

​

Shenika draws on deep, specialized training to inform her pedagogical practice. She holds a Graduate Certification in Vocology from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where her coursework bridges voice science and practical application for both healthy and rehabilitating voices.  She is completing a Doctor of Music in Voice with a minor in Music Education, further strengthening her ability to design thoughtful, research-informed instruction.

Her academic foundation includes a Master of Music in Voice Performance from Florida State University, where she served as a graduate instructor in the musical theatre department, and a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance with a minor in Performing Arts Management from the University of Michigan. This combination of performance, pedagogy, and management training allows her to offer well-rounded guidance through her professional voice studio.

Communications

​

As a communications consultant, Shenika partners with organizations and leaders to clarify their message, elevate their brand, and deepen engagement with key audiences through strategic planning, storytelling, and stakeholder-centered communication.

​

She has served as Head of Communications at The Lewis Prize for Music, leading strategy for a $20 million philanthropic initiative supporting more than 80 youth organizations across the United States and U.S. Territories, where she designed national campaigns, managed multi-region vendor partnerships, and advised executive leadership on crisis messaging and high-stakes stakeholder communications.

​

Her expertise is informed by more than a decade of experience in arts administration, event management, and performance, including work in venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and Walt Disney Concert Hall.  As a certified vocologist and voice instructor, she also coaches professionals in voice wellness, technique, and performance practice for more effective, confident communication.

Shenika now provides strategic communications support to mission-driven clients across sectors, helping them communicate with clarity, creativity, and purpose.

​

 

Projects

​

 Through projects such as Cooking and Opera, Shenika has collaborated with artists including Denyce Graves to bring communities together through shared experience. She is also the co-founder of The Classical Musicians Network. Whether on stage, in the studio, or in a boardroom, her work reflects a commitment to excellence, clarity, and impact.

Recognitions

​

Shenika has been recognized with the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition Encouragement Award (Iowa District), the Benjamin Matthews Voice Award, the NANM Marian Anderson Competition New York City District First Prize, and George Shirley Voice Competition Awards. She was selected for the 2025 Alice Houston Women’s Leadership Program cohort and has also received the SAVVY Arts Venture Challenge MVP Award.
